Artimis Fowl (Novel) By Eoin Colfer Wide Reading Entry.

Jacob Field

Breif plot over view what are the main points. what would you tell someone when explaining it to them.

Artinis Fowl is a 12 year old boy who lives in a multimillion dollar machion with a superhuman like body garud by his side. But none of this was earned fairly as Artimis is one of the worlds biggest criminal masterminds. With his father missing and only him to take the throne. He sets out on a mission to capture a fairy but these arnt your classical bed time story fairys they are armed and dangerous. Artimis may be smart but the fairys have a few tricks up their sleves.

Chareters you found interesting did you feel a certain connection to a certain charecter.

I thought that butler was quite an interesting character. He has been trained throughout his life to spend his days protecting Artemis. he is said to be a superhuman of a man towering over any other human that comes in his way. It’s like he’s some type of human super soldier. When I think of Butler I think of the famous WWE wrestler the BIG SHOW. The big show is a 7 foot 174kg man and is not someone to mess around with. Another even more mainstream well known person I would think of when I imagine butler is someone like Dwayne ‘the rock’ Johnson, both these men are huge and spend a lot of time perfecting their craft. I like Butler personally because I think I like the idea of him even though he’s on the ‘bad guys’ side. He seems like some type of superhero. someone that against all odds prevails victorious.

Messages you took from the text did a certain message really stand out to you

A message I took from Eoin Colfer Novel was the one that everybody has a heart, even the most prolific criminals in the world. A moment in particular really stood out to me when Artemis had agent Holly imprisoned and he said “ I didn’t realize she would be so human like ”. Artemis thought she would be some type of robot like being with no emotion. he never realized the fairies could share human emotions, such as frustration and sadness. As Holly screamed and yelled and banged her head against the wall Artemis the heatless criminal he seemed to be feeling bad. It really started to eat at him that she was sad and going crazy. I think when this was happening it reminded him of his mother up there in his room. Whos dilosinal and has gone completely crazy and even he wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Iculeing Agent Holly and he was showing remorse for his recently captured prisoner.

Challanges the chacrecters had to deal with how did they deal with this challange

The challenges of butler and mulch whos biggest problems were each other they have to fend each other off in some close encounters and for nearly the first time ever Butler was hit to the floor not once but twice this is his only opponent to pull this against him and Butler prays the Cameras didn’t catch the moment. This moment stood out to me as it was the first time something like this had happened to Butler and I dont think he really knew what was going on. This reminded me of a sequence in the last dance, a documentary about Michel Jordan and the bulls that is on Netflix at the moment. When Michel and the dream team were versing Croatia in the first round they knew they were a threat but not just that there was something personal. Jerry Krause Bulls manager, (who was knowen to be not very liked by the players). Instead of focusing on the contract of arguably the second most valuable player in the league at the time Scottie Pippin he was in Croatia watching games involving promising young star Tony kou couch. So just like Butler and Mulch these two had been set out to fight and hate each other before they met and just like Mulch surprising Butler, after being picked on and focused and shut down in first game Tony Kou Couch surprised them all by coming back and playing a very respectable game in the finals both these people showed they had fight and against all odds could fight back and wasn’t going to give up as easy as originally thought.

Title does the titile suit the text and if so how

The Title does suit the text as it is named after the texts main charecter who all the other chaecters avole around, his name is Artimis Fowl.

Who would you recomend the text to why and what did you learn from it

I would reconmmend the text to people that enjoy books about crime and battles between good and evil. I would recommend the book to someone who enjoys alot of action or likes learning about fictional alternate realities. I would probably give the book an age range of about 10-17 years old. But over all I really enjoyed the book and would be open to reading more of the series

Did you like or dislike this text

As I said above I definetily enjoyed the book it has a great stroy line and I really like all the detail thats put into it. It really gives you a big picture of this whole different reality and alturnet lives these people are liveing.

Writer directior did they use devides that helped you in this text

Some of the things Eoin Colfer did was swich between chaecters presepectives so you would read what hapened to one chaecter then there would be a * simbol and then go down a line starting new paragraph this was good as in important moments and situation you new who was taking when and whos perseptive you were getting. It wouldnt be person to person prespective but more one group of people to another and it would go into details of what certain chaecters were thinking at critical times.

Hi Jacob

-Not Achieved for this entry.

There are some moments where you start to delve into the deeper messages in parts of the text but to take this further, especially for this level of content, you would need to offer perceptive insights into the allegorical nature of fantasy and science fiction writing and how it relates to society and life. While Artemis Fowl is an adventure story at heart, there are messages that appeal to deeper connections for the reader. Difficult to articulate though, even for an advanced reader with highly developed analysis skills.
