This covers the events leading up to during and after the first time man ever stepped foot on the moon and made it back. This was one of the most historical events in history and it is quite a miracle to see never released footage of this classical event. From the take-off to the first steps and all the way back to the 18-day caravan quarantine. This movie covers it all. Focusing on astronauts like Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin while all narrated by media comments and mission control. While showing never seen before archived pictures that will be famous for many years to come.
Michel Collins was quite interesting to me as he went up there and went through the whole experience but never got to step out of the spacecraft. He went through the training and endured everything those other two astronauts did. And even though having just watched this film I still had to ask Mr Lamb for his name. I think this proves that even though going through everything else he never stepped on the moon, therefore will not be remembered the same. This is very interesting for me as I couldn’t imagine going through all of that and getting there but not getting the satisfaction of actually stepping the surface of another spere in the sky. Michels name was mentioned with the others at the start of the film but was very rarely if ever spoken about. The only other times he became present was when they talked about the 3 astronauts as a hole. So I feel he was betrayed as a bit of a background character compared to the famous American heroes that are Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin.
If the directors intention was to be informal and lay out all the facts I think he did great. I think even though this flim is non-fiction it will not capture you the same as many fictinol space flims in this day in age. They make these fictinol flims so crazy and so out of this world it makes this flim seem dull. even though real and showing acual clips and sonds it just does not really entertain you the same. But still it is very impressive and shows of astonising facts that will be in the record book forever.
